Top 5 new patterns on Ravelry

Here are my favourite new patterns that have been released on Ravelry this week!

Hello again,

I wanted to share some patterns I’ve found that are new to ravelry this week. For those who don’t know, ravelry is a website for knitters and crocheters where you can buy patterns, join discussions and speak with others about all things knit and crochet.

Anyway, I sometimes find the patterns overwhelming and it is hard to know where to look so I’ve done the work for you and found my favourite 5 patterns that were released this week on ravelry. If you are looking for some project inspiration then keep on reading!

*disclaimer that this week all the patterns are knit patterns but I will definitely be releasing crochet patterns in the future as well.

  1. The Astrid Sweater by Classic Knit

I love the look of this sweater! It is a dropped shoulder sweater with a rib high neck and raglan increases. The designer knit this sweater in Filcolana Peruvian Highland Wool on a 5.5 mm needle but you could also probably knit it using Drops Lima.

2. Piruett Sweater by Carina Custovic-Mælen

This sweater is stunning. It is a cable knit mohair sweater and I think it is a beautiful design. I think the designer holds two strands of Isager Silk Mohair together to achieve this look. The ravelry description on how she constructs the sweater is slightly complicated (I think because it is translated). However, I would still love to give this sweater a try.

3. Valley Gloves by Daughter Judy

These are so cool. They are ribbed gloves that have an opening at the palm so that you can take off the fingers without taking off the whole glove… genius! The designer recommends Isager sock yarn but you could use any fingering, warm yarn! Can’t wait to make these, although I might have to wait for next winter because my to be knit list is already very long…

4. Brushed Loop Hat by Other Loops_

This hat is stunning. It is worked from the bottom to top and the piece is folded and knitted together to form the double hem. In the pattern they brush the hat for a fluffy and full look which is so nice. In the pattern they use a fine wool held together with two strands of mohair. I will definitely be making this but again, it might have to wait for next year…

5. The Nordic Tote by Mathilda Anderson

I might have saved my favourite for last. This is the Nordic Tote by Mathilda Anderson and I absolutely love the shape. The bag is a felted cross-body bag with a thick shoulder strap and a modern design. The designer uses the classic felting yarn: drops snow and I think it turns out incredible. I’ve been wanting to make more bags/accessories so I will definitely be casting this on.

Those are all of my favourite patterns that have come out recently on ravelry. I hope this has given you some inspiration. If you end up starting any of these then please drop me a message on instagram @thecoolgirlsknit I would love to hear how they went. Also, I would like to give credit to the amazing people who designed these patterns. I am currently designing my own pattern so I can vouch for how difficult it is.

Until next time 👋
